FAQ

Do I need any prior experience with personal development or coaching?

Not at all; in fact – I’d kind of prefer that you didn’t have any because I present my coaching in a very unique way and I’m told my method is the reason my words resonate so authentically with my clients or students.  I’m not a polished marketer and I have no desire to be one – there are a million out there.

I’m just me, giving my knowledge the way I have with my clients for years, just in-person.  I’ve finally accepted that I have to provide my knowledge and my method to more people than I can just reach one-on-one.

It is because of this that this course is designed for beginners and seasoned learners alike. Everything is broken down into clear, compassionate, step-by-step lessons that meet you exactly where you are.

Why is our coaching unique and different?

When someone asks me, “What do you do?” I tell them, “I’m a Personal Discovery and Performance Coach.”

That usually leads to the next question:
“What’s a Personal Discovery Coach? Is that like a life coach? Is it therapy?”

I explain that my work is different from both. I’ve never been to a life coach, so I can’t speak to that directly, but I can speak clearly about what I do — and what my clients consistently tell me sets this coaching apart.

Much of the distinction comes from the feedback of clients who have previously worked with counselors, therapists, or other helping professionals. Their experiences, combined with my own work with a wonderful therapist twenty years ago, highlight the core differences in my approach:

  • Our coaching is grounded in the APACHE Theory, a framework I developed over more than two decades. It includes laws, principles, and processes that help clients uncover the emotional patterns and life experiences that created the pain they’re now ready to release. Every APACHE-certified coach uses this same foundation.

  • Clients learn to self-diagram their emotions — and the emotions of others.
This gives them a multi-perspective understanding that transforms communication, deepens relationships, and strengthens their relationship with themselves.

  • These tools teach true leadership, authentic communication, and the ability to understand and overcome fear.
Clients learn not just what they feel, but why — and how to lead themselves through it.

  • We create a coaching environment where clients feel safe enough to receive empowerment.
Self-awareness and self-acceptance only grow when a person feels free to explore without judgment.

  • Clients release guilt, shame, anger, and fear through individualized assignments that help them uncover what has been hidden beneath their emotional surface.

  • We work efficiently and intentionally.
Our goal is to help Personal Discovery clients complete their work within 10–20 sessions, depending on the depth of what needs to be addressed.

Regarding Performance Coaching:

Success is deeply personal. Yet most people pursue success based on expectations they never consciously chose — expectations inherited from family, culture, or the desire to please others.

This is why so many professionals find themselves in careers that don’t fulfill them, and why so many talented athletes struggle to reach the next level. They’re chasing goals that don’t align with their authentic motivations.

Our Performance Coaching focuses on potential — the intersection of skill, attitude, and motivation.

Understanding how these elements work for or against you is essential to achieving meaningful success.

A defining feature of our Performance Coaching is this:

  • We help clients discover what will truly be required to reach their full potential — even if that means realizing their current path isn’t personally fulfilling.
Our responsibility is not to push someone toward more money, higher status, or a new level simply for the sake of achievement.
True success only emerges when the client is aligned with their authentic desires.

Our coaching often reveals motivations, fears, and internal conflicts that clients have never examined. Sometimes, those insights lead to a powerful realization:

“This path isn’t actually mine.”

Because of this, we ask every Performance Coaching client one essential question before we begin:

“Our coaching will reveal many aspects of your motivations and perspectives toward your venture — whether business or athletics. Some people discover, based on these revelations, that they no longer want to continue in their current path.  Are you willing to explore that possibility?”

What is the APACHE Theory?

Applied Psychology Advancing Conditions of the Human Experience (APACHE)

I officially developed the APACHE theory around 2008 when I realized that much of my coaching had been following a pattern when working with my personal development coaching clients.  I realized that the method I used and the practical tools I developed allowed me to have rapid breakthroughs with my clients, allowing them to be more empowered, confident, and more content in their lives and about their decisions.

My coaching is not therapy or counseling; it’s entirely about coaching my clients on how our emotionality works and how they can free themselves from the hurdles that have been placed in their lives by themselves or by others. When a client of mine learns the tenets I teach and understands the elements of human nature, their lives are changed. With my knowledge and direction from an empathic perspective, they discover what freedom exists when not controlled by elements of fear, shame, guilt, and other negatively impactful emotions.

The main reason I developed APACHE into a specific concept and practice was for three reasons:

     1. To be able to provide therapists and counselors with specific tools designed to allow a patient to open up much more quickly, revealing more of themselves than in traditional methods, for the professional to help assist their patients much more quickly and therefore be able to help more patients overcome the difficulties in their lives that I do not address.  Most of the mental health professionals have an immense desire to help their patients, and being able to have a “jump start” on understanding the foundation of the emotional basis of their patients allows those devoted professionals time-saving tools to achieve their goal faster.

     2. To have a certification I could provide for other personal development coaches who want to help more clients quicker, or for those who want to become an APACHE certified coach.

     3. I wanted to provide kind-hearted people with tools to do self-work on their emotional existence. Using the tools I provide can allow a person insight into why they behave as they do and why others in their world behave as they do as well as provide direction on the need for and how to set boundaries to protect self since kind-hearted people tend to be the individuals who are often taken for granted.

APACHE is the major reason my clients have rapid growth in their personal development and their empowerment; the tools I have developed over the past 20 years allow my clients to provide an emotional reveal without ever feeling afraid or too vulnerable. These tools allow me to have a starting point that is much further along in the process because they help me understand their emotional states and belief systems without fear of judgment. These are powerful in the process of assisting my clients to understand and accept themselves very rapidly, often in less than 10 sessions. According to my clients and their testimonials, the process is life-changing.

I wanted kind-hearted individuals to discover their authentic selves, so they could become the whole person they were meant to be from birth—before life introduced disappointment, fear, and other difficult emotions. These feelings often lead to intense conflicts that affect not only their own lives but also the lives of their loved ones, partners, spouses, and children.

Some of the key points of my APACHE coaching are:

  • There are fundamental principles that govern human behavior and emotions, and these principles are constant.

  • Our emotional systems are entirely logical and reliable and are unique to each individual.

  • Our emotional self drives our decision-making, contrary to what we might have been taught.

  • Seeking self-approval is a powerful force that influences us all, both positively and negatively. Understanding which forces have shaped us is essential to self-awareness.

  • Emotional fear is learned and can affect us for life until we recognize and address it.

  • Removing emotional fear leads to emotional freedom and is necessary for full self-empowerment.
